Sao Joao Evangelista Church

History: The Church of Neura was built in 1541. First it was under the Jesuits, then a century later under the Augustinians who opened a Seminary in 1622 dedicated to St. John the Evangelist. The church was rebuilt in 1624. The Augustinians left in 1776 giving the charge of the parish to the Diocesan Clergy. The top storey of the frontispiece partly collapsed in the mid-nineties and was rebuilt with shortened height.

• Mannerist Neo-Roman style
• Large size, 5 bays x 3 storeys
• Finials of spear types, triangular pediments for all windows
• Large twin bell towers with balusters
