The Chapel of Catherine is one of the Best of UNESCO World Heritage sites in Old Goa. The size of this chapel is small and elegant, and currently it is dysfunctional, but has immense significance of the Portuguese history in India. This beautiful looking chapel faces Mandovi River and is just a few steps from the from the Archaeological Museum & Portrait Gallery in Goa. Unlike the other designs and shades used for chapels in Goa, which are mostly white in color, this chapel is characterized by a mixture of brown and white facade.
It is interesting to note that the famous Se Cathedral, the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, the Archaeological Museum & Portrait Gallery and the Chapel of St. Catherine, are stretching from the east to the west (which is very unique in nature) and are situated in the same compound maintained by the Archealogical Surveyor of India. The compound also has an open-air snack and tea counter, offering refreshments to the guests, which is very close to the Se Cathedral. Depending on their interests, the guests spend about one to four hours to see the Chapel of Catherine in Old Goa.
