Church of Our Lady of Miracles Milagres

MThis church is located about 2 Kms east of the main Mapusa bazaar. It was constructed in 1594.It was almost destroyed in a fire set off by the retreating Portuguese forces in 1961 and was renovated soon after.

This church was originally dedicated to St. Jerome but has since been re-dedicated to our lady of Miracles. It is built at the site of a Hindu temple that was destroyed by the Portuguese. The church is more commonly known as Milagres church.

The church feast falls on the Monday following the third week of Easter and is very important festival for both Hindus and Christians alike who attend in large numbers.
