Nossa Senhora da Piedade church, Elevated: 16.11.1938, Feast: Last Sunday of October

History: The foundation of the original Chapel was laid on 8.9.1866 and blessed on 6.2.1868 and erected by provision of 20.7.1870. It was made a military chapel by decree issued on 14.12.1880. It was filial to Ponda from which it was delinked and elevated to a parochial church by provision dated 16.11.1938.

Architectural notes:

• Modern design with neo-Roman elements
• Large size, two-storeyed
• Front has tall pediment with serrated edges
• Mock alettes are displaced to extreme ends
• Front canopy supported by engaged columns
• Pointed arches for first storey
• Twin turrets with ball finials and elongated openings
