Afonso de Albuquerque ordered this church to be built in 1519 at the vantage point atop the hill from where Adil Shah beat back the Portuguese on May 23, 1510. The layout is in the shape of a simple Latin cross. The holy water front just inside the side entrance has motifs of a style belonging to the Kadamba period. The paintings, graffito on the walls and the main alter have all been given a new lease of life with the restoration efforts carried out over the last few years.
