Sao Jeronimo church, Founded: 1594 , Feast: Last Sunday of September

History: The Parish Church was founded by the Franciscans in 1594 and dedicated to St. Jerome. It was rebuilt in 1674. The church is popularly known as the Church of Our Lady of Miracles whose feast is celebrated on Monday after the Second Sunday of Easter.

Architectural notes:

• Mannerist style with Rococo features
• Large size, 3 bays x 3 storeys
• Front has Rococo curves, oval motif and the Franciscan insignia ‘AM’
• Double height pilasters without usual cornice at first floor level
• Curved balconies in second storey
• Finials of flower-bud on pedestals
• Bell housed in domed tower at rear
