Sao Jacinto Church
Sao Jacinto Church Elevated: 164.1853    Feast: Last Sunday of September History: Originally a Chapel was founded on this island called “Ilha do Secretariado” before 1731. It was rebuilt in 1789 and further reconstructed on greater dimensions in 1830. It was elevated to a parochial church by provision dated 16.4.1853. Architectural notes: • Eclectic style with Neo-Roman and Neo-Gothic features • Medium size, 5 bays x 3 storeys • Frontispiece gable has templet flanked by large spearhead finials • Pointed arches for openings • Twin bell turrets with spearhead finials • Large porch with tiled roof and masonry columns
