History: Founded by the Jesuits in 1569, the Church was handed over to the Diocesan Clergy before 1642. Reconstruction of the structure commenced on 24.8.1641 and the Church was completed and blessed on 28.5.1649.
Architectural notes:
• Mannerist Neo-Roman style
• Large size, 5 bays x 4 storeys
• Sequence of Arch-Rectangle-Oculus-Relief
• Fan-shaped ornamentation around oculus
• Fluted round columns frame the main door
• Twin bell towers with balustrades
• Finials of ball and spear-and-ball types
• Porch with trusses and sheet roof
