Santo Andre Church
Santo Andre Church Founded: 1570    Feast: 30th November History: This church was founded by the Jesuits in 1570 and on 5th April of the same year the first Mass was celebrated with great pomp. In 1594 another church of greater dimensions was erected. Architectural notes: • Original peaked gable façade has been remdeled with Neo-Gothic features • Large size, 5 bays x 3 storeys • Pointed arches for openings • Insignia of St. Andrew’s cross at apex • Height accentuated by absence of cornices • Narrow tri-panelled window in tower bay • Gable rises high above twin towers • Finials are of tapering spear type |
