Nossa Senhora, Consolacao dos Perseguidos Church Elevated: 1971    Feast: 2nd Sunday of May History: Originally a chapel dependent on the parish of Siolim, the construction of this chapel was authorized through a dispatch dated 8.5.1762. The chapel was blessed on 17.6.1762. It was rebuilt in 1712 and eventually was elevated to the rank of a parish in 1971. The locality came to be known as Tropa, meaning troops, because the Portuguse Government had stationed a military force there. Architectural noted: • Eclectic design with Neo-Gothic touches • Medium size, 3 bays x 3 storeys • Pointed arches for openings in lower storeys • Twin turrets with rusticated obelisk finials • Porch with rusticated columns and flat roof |
